Designed Stairs created custom boxed stairs for multiple units and layouts, with milled stringers and wall rail. We delivered these Prefabricated Kits to the site on the 12th floor in Chicago and assisted union carpenters until they were confident enough to finish the installation. The installers were able to achieve professional results within a budgeted time frame.

For this project, our customer required highly detailed, time-period reproduction work and top-level joinery techniques. We developed inter-locking stringers and newels and streamlined professional installation techniques to ensure great results at the site. One of our top-level installers traveled to the job site and supervised the installation by the customer’s highly skilled carpenters.

Chestnut Row Homes

Berglund contracted a multi-million-dollar rowhome project that required high-end, architect-specified staircases for seven four-level units. We produced custom layouts for each unit based on our own field dimensions, and recommended changes from the original prints in order to improve the final designs. Designed Stairs provided an experienced installer to assist the union carpenters on site, as well as several experts to trouble-shoot when needed. The end result was 23 custom, black walnut staircases that are among the highlights of this luxury building.

Atherton had a large project that needed to be installed according to Army Corps of Engineering standards. We customized the order per their specifications and helped line up a third-party installer to meet their needs. The customer’s schedule was accommodated over a five-month period to make sure that each unit met “just in time” delivery expectations without requiring unnecessary storage.

Originally contacted by the architectural firm during the design phase, Designed Stairs produced a detailed design including guardrail and handrail details that were commercial and ADA compliant.
